post #13 - stop motion animation WITH MUSIC
This was a fun project, incorporating both GarageBand and Photoshop into one, small animation video. The biggest challenge I found was to rein myself back in, because sometimes I get a little too crazy when it comes to GarageBand. THERE'S JUST SO MANY SOUNDS! Haha!
post #12 - stop motion animation
Using photoshop and about 81 images, I put together this fun, little stop-motion video that depicts a normal morning! I have to have my dark roast coffee, and having a bagel always makes my morning a little better! Honestly, this project really wasn't difficult. The worst part of it was the organization, since I used Google Drive to upload the pictures from my smartphone. When it uploaded, they were scattered and random, and since the photographs all look basically the same, it was quite frustrating and took about an hour to get them all in chronological order! Yoikes!
This video wasn't entirely difficult, it was just time consuming. See, you have to get about three photograph for this project, but the trick is to get the photographs where your face is lined up about the same way. I get insecure (LOL) about my face looking straight at the camera, so a lot of the pictures I have on hand are tilted. Lining up the faces was slightly difficult, as well, because my face isn't the same size as it was when I was a child, so I had to kind of just hope it turned out all right. I think it did!
Okay, let me tell you. I kind of feel like I cheated on this project - I DIDN'T - but I feel like I did. After a lot of blending, smudging, healing, it seemed impossible to morph my face where Aphrodite/Venus is. This picture is the painting, "The Birth of Venus" by Boticelli, and my face is where Venus' is! I used the paint tool to blend it better, but I felt like I was sort-of cheating by doing it that way...but I think it's fine! It's a part of the software!

This project made me excited, because I always see photoshopped images (silly, or not) and wondered, How do I do that??? Turns out, it's not really difficult, as many of this is, just meticulous. Pay attention to details like shadows or temperatures in comparison to the background photo. It is difficult, yes, especially where the feet are placed (it can look ZONKY)...but with practice, I'm sure it's really not all that crazy difficult. My biggest issue was the placing of feet (to look like it sinks into the Earth or water slightly) and temperature. I ended up changing the temperature to the imported photographs, as well as the overall photographs once the image was flattened.
This project was fun and cute, transforming the meaning behind the photographs. The main focus of this exercise was to get us comfortable with editing and adjusting images on Photo shop, so editing them to the extreme was encouraged. My biggest challenge was to edit them with variety, because I found myself making the photographs looking similar to one another. Oops!
Okay, ya'll.... lemme just say: I AM SO PROUD OF THIS! I love The Eagles, and it was very time consuming, but I love how it ended up! The lines through pen tools were honestly so annoying, and the feathers were kind of difficult, but GUYS! I DID IT! :-)
post #6 - fruit illustration - Adobe Illustrator CC 2018
Going B-A-N-A-N-A-S! This was the gradient project, but the gradient effect doesn't really work on bananas for some reason, so I had to use the Gaussian Blur instead. I really liked how this one turned out. It kind of reminds me of a food item in Sims or Skyrim. Either of those is a compliment, so really I'm just complimenting myself, haha! The most difficult part was including all the little lines (as seen in the second picture) to make the effect of a banana more realistic. There's just so many lines from the pen tool that it kept trying to overlap, and I was like, "No, you! Stop that!" Haha, anyways, I hope you all have magical and wonderful days!!!

post #5 - business cards - Adobe Illustrator CC 2018
After creating our logos in class, our new government job was set in to place; we were to place our logos on mock business cards! I found this new assignment quite fun, especially since I've made business cards previously. As was my opinion with the logos, my favorite from the designs was my umbrella. I found this interesting, because I thought that in both instances, my favorite was going to be the pink camera! Yet, I felt like the umbrella designs were more unique to myself. I'm oddly attached to the design now. The two of us are one. Within the software, you have to be careful with moving things! The shortcut keys CMD-G, groups the images together so it becomes one giant image; this was especially useful in moving the logo to the new business-card design.
Going back to my pride and joy, ol' faithful umbrella.....at first glance, the design looks simple and basic, but upon further examination, it's also "nutty as fruitcake." I used that expression, because that's apparently a synonym for crazy on thesaurus dot com.
"Now your blog is quirky and relatable," Anna Miller, my neighbor, claims. She approves of the expression.
Perhaps Anna Miller is right. I used clipping mask, where you overlap images to create a fan-effect; you can see my example in my second business card design.
With my knowledgable insights, I think I have prepared you for the real world, dear reader. Now, I shall leave you with your own thoughts to the viewpoint of one junior in an 8pm digital media class. Stay safe, and be kind.

post #4 - logos - Adobe Illustrator CC 2018
This week we furthered our understanding with Illustrator, using the skills we learned last week to advance our skills for this week! We had to create three, separately themed logos for a singular company. The company didn't necessarily have to be real, but the company I chose was dedicated to this website. I thought that if I really liked the design(s), I could use it for my own purposes! My favorite logo I created was the last one: the umbrella. I like that in the umbrella design, I incorporated a sleek look with a childish/artistic flair within its restraints. Plus, it's cute. :)
Anna nods in approval.

post #3 - 09/05/2018 - Adobe Illustrator CC 2018
This week we traced line art and were instructed to replace the lines with words, whether it be poetry, expression, whatnot. I chose to trace an eyeball, and the expressions come from spells, expressions, and phrases that I came up on my own. In the process of tracing the line art, you must lock the image you're tracing and create a new layer to place over the first image. The pen tool is what I used to create lines, and it can get slightly annoying and flimsy at times, but wasn't really complicated. The pupil didn't want to make a complete circle, so I had to create another layer to add on to the line, so it looked more completed. We were taught to use "Type on a Path Tool" in Ai (Adobe Illustrator) to replace the lines we traced, with words.
The photo I chose to create, embodies the idea of the third eye, embracing the witchy side of yourself, and channeling one's inner eye.
I sent this picture to my cousin, Allison Norman, who is a practicing witch in Portland, Oregon. She absolutely loved the image, and said she was printing it out to place it on her wall. I thought of her the whole time while making this, and felt as if the image belonged to her almost, even though she had no idea I was making it. Even though I made this image, it found its home across the country.

post #2 - 09/03/2018 - HTML Project - Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2018
My final product feature above, is from our first assignment! The image was developed through Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2018, using HTML formatting to create a mass image formulated from smaller shapes. My sailboat was more difficult than I thought it was going to be in creation, because I didn't have the code for a triangle; the ripped sails were a combination of quirkiness, 2 lines, and filled with squares. The flag on the ship is there to represent my great grandparents' country of Lithuania.
Anna pauses, staring at my masterpiece. It's taken days, maybe years to formulate, and a single tear streams down my face as I marvel at its simplicity.
"I've never related to anything else more in my life," Anna says. I smile slightly. Me too.
The sailboat fades in the distance, as does the memory.

Hi all,
My name is Sarah Marie, and I am currently enrolled in a very late digital media class. If you're reading this, you're probably enrolled in it to. You're possibly wondering why you signed up for such a late class. Me too.
Despite having those same thoughts that circle my mind, I'm deciding to stray from that mindset and claim that I'm excited. This class seems fun and interesting, so at least if it's at 20:00 at night, it's something that piques my interests and (hopefully) keeps me awake!
I never thought I would be a "coder," and I think it's safe to say that I'm technically a pro now. I mean, look at that sailboat!
Seriously, though, I didn't think I would enjoy coding. I don't think I would make it a life ambition (despite what my neighbor wishes for my future, but that's a completely different and weird story...) but I enjoy the class so far. It's only been one day, so I think it would be off to a bad start if I was already dreading coming to class!
I don't exactly know what it is that I'm supposed to be sharing on here, but it's interesting to me that I have to keep up with a blog; I have to manage another blog for another class that sounds very similar: Digital Imaging. I enjoy writing and blogs are freely styled, so let's get ready to rumble!
If you think my thoughts are somewhat interesting, feel free to read my future posts! I'll never know and I'm not stopping you. Maybe you'll feel like you really get to know me.
Sweet dreams my pumpkins (lol,)
