1. Choose a photo and describe the image
2. Visually and psychologically, why is it powerful? Is it heavy, if so, why?
3. How does he use light?
1. The photograph showed a rainy parking lot to a mechanic shop or house or something, and it shows somber people - both the taxi driver and the woman standing away from the cab. The weather is gloomy and the town is empty. There are various taxi cabs in the photograph that are yellow, yet the taxi cab that is operational is blue.
2. It's a powerful image, because art is always powerful, just not to everybody. Once you release an image or your work out into the world, it's not your image anymore; it can be interpreted any way. So, to me, it's powerful, because of the gloomy effects and the somber effect of rain. Yet, I actually love the rain and find it peaceful, but its generally themed as somber. He's developing a world from his own mind, and his personal anxieties, fears, and issues stem from that. It's an interesting concept, because usually photos like this are street art, and the photo is meant to grab feelings from the viewer because of interpretations from the subjects in the photograph. Yet, I feel like Crewdson doesn't want you to take that away, but instead he wants you to find what's wrong in his mind through his visuals. Having a dad who's a psychiatrist helps, too.
3. He uses twilight and artificial lights that he brings in that tower over the sets. He likes fog machines to add a romantic or eerie effect. Since it's outside, it's a lot of natural light, but specifically he likes to work at twilight.

Hello all,
I don't actually know who plans on reading these blogs, or if it's just professor Roman. Yet, if you're here and still reading, I thank you. I'm unsure if these articles are actually required, but I enjoy writing anyways. I'll attach some photographs I took on my ride-along in the helicopter for my job.

I know what you're probably thinking: "Why did you get a picture of a dog on your shoe?"
Well, that's Dixie Marie. She's eight years old, but still my beautiful St. Bernard puppy at heart. She's the best dog anyone could ask for -- I know, everyone says that -- and she is my best friend.

Anyways, before I start crying because she's the best thing ever and I don't know what I did to deserve her....
I'm going to go to sleep!
Sweet dreams my pumpkins, and I'm sure you'll hear from me real soon.
